Fairline Information

Fairline’s passion really shows when creating a boat that truly performs for in the truest sense of the word; every aspect of the on-board engineering, from the mooring, anchoring and tender-handling facilities to the domestic equipment and electronic boat management systems, is designed to work in perfect harmony. Together, they create an all-round performance capability that is truly unique to the Fairline marque.

Fairlines quality control and testing facility on the English coast at Ipswich, are a constant hive of activity as technicians and engineers put finished models through their paces. They test and log everything - from sound levels in the cabins and living areas - to the functioning of the electronic systems - to the perfection of all the furnishings, fixtures and fittings. Not just on the dockside, but also out at sea during intensive pre-delivery sea-trials.

It’s a high tech business that nevertheless demands a detailed eye and a profound knowledge of the entirety of a boat’s operating systems, as well as an appreciation of the exceptional standards owners have come to expect. After all, when you buy one of the world’s class-leading yachts, Fairline believe perfection should be delivered right from the very first day.

What gives Fairlines their unique appeal?

The hull is bonded to the deck; then bolted in place.
A specific interior liner moulding is designed and built for each model, which is then bonded inside the hull. The deck and superstructure are then bonded and bolted to the hull, creating an incredibly strong structure, with enormous torsional rigidity. No other manufacturer invests in the time and effort necessary to achieve this level of solid strength and structural integrity. And there’s something else too; unlike most other boat builders, fairline lay-up unidirectional and woven rovings by hand and every gelcoat layer is brushed on, meticulously, for maximum integrity. These are the foundations of Fairline’s legendary build quality and performance.

Double gelcoat outside, plus a flow-coat inside the hull.
Two gelcoat layers for the outer hull give a really tough finish with the added benefit of being easier to repair in the event of a minor knock or scratch. In addition, all the interior hull surfaces, including the bilges and stowage areas, are coated to give a smooth, easy-to-clean, durable finish.

Each model has a different, and unique, hull form and design.
This may not sound special, but it is. Every hull design should be the “ideal” and optimised for its length, beam and power, to ensure the best possible all-round performance. This means fairline never just shorten, lengthen or re-shape an existing hull design or add a fixed bathing platform to create a “new” model.

Listen! No noise, squeaks, creaks or rattles.
Each timber bulkhead is crafted to exactly mate and match to an individual hull and glassed in place, without the use of any packing or jointing pieces … or sealant! Much time and effort is also poured into making doors fit firmly and snugly, eliminating typical sources of rattle and hum. This level of precision ensures a quieter, more solid-feeling boat with matchless strength, durability and quality.

Engineering planning that pays off later.
Fairline engines are pre-fitted on their rubber mountings and left to ‘settle’ for some weeks on the shop floor while the boat is being built and before they are installed in the hull itself. This unusual technique eliminates the usual need for the proud new owner to book his boat in for shaft re-alignment after the first few hours of running.

A perfect match of quality and craftsmanship.
Genuine solid woods and veneers of the highest standard are individually crafted for each boat and Fairline go to great lengths to make sure the grain is perfectly matched, both horizontally and vertically, on all panels and cabinetry. They even make sure no screw-heads are visible to spoil the sheer beauty of line and form that such woodwork creates!

Comfort is Fairlines priority.
The full-length mattresses are either pocket-sprung or of the highest quality reflex foam, the curtains have proper “blackout” linings, the carpets are thoroughly insulated, and even the cooling water from the generator is exhausted silently; all thoughtful features to make sure you and your guests get a good night’s sleep.

Quality assurance.
Every boat produced has an individual quality certification procedure, a rigorous process that can involve over 2,000 separate checks. The visual inspection stage alone takes around 30 hours, depending on the model. In recognition of this stringent attention to this aspect of production, Fairline was the first British boat manufacturer ever to receive a BS5750/ISO9001 quality accreditation.

Popular Fairline Models

The Fairline Targa 38 incorporates many of the technical innovations and quality advances found on the larger Fairline Targa models and handles every bit as well. The swept-back radar arch gives the flowing lines of this boat a razor sharp finish, while the long, panoramic hull windows add to the distinctive, streamlined look.

The Fairline Targa 40 offers unusually generous headroom below deck, two spacious and comfortable sleeping cabins, a beautifully appointed saloon, a well-equipped galley, an integral tender garage and a very respectable speed of up to 39 knots. The FairlineTarga 40 has become a most popular and sought-after model, commanding a high resale value.

The latest Fairline Targa 44 Gran Turismo (GT) is designed around a new technology, Volvo Penta’s revolutionary IPS (Inboard Performance System) with its unique forward-facing propeller units. The IPS delivers around 15% faster acceleration, 20% greater top speed and up to 30% better fuel economy. The Fairline Targa 44 has a brand new deep-V hull designed to make the most of the system and the result is a level of performance and handling unparalleled in a boat of this size.

The Fairline Targa 47 Gran Turismo (GT) carries Fairline’s leading-edge innovations and powerfully dramatic styling to include the powered retractable hardtop. The Fairline Targa 47GT offers two large en suite cabins, a very spacious cockpit, a large stern bathing platform and an integrated garage for tenders and water toys.

The Fairline Targa 52 Gran Turismo (GT) is a luxury long-range sports cruiser with 3 spacious double cabins, an enormously accommodating cockpit area for relaxing and entertaining in style and up to 36 exhilarating knots on tap.

The Fairline Targa 64 Gran Turismo (GT) has the Fairline innovative patented design retractable roof, which sets new standards in this class. Further highlights of the Fairline Targa 64GT are the wide, atrium-style access to the lower saloon, creating an impressive entrance and the magnificent, full-beam master stateroom amidships, with electro-chromatic partition to the en-suite shower room. This high-tech system changes the glass from opaque to transparent at the flick of a switch, allowing light to flood through the feature windows into the cabin.

The Fairline Phantom 40 is a real family cruising boat, designed to accommodate four people in elegant comfort and a couple more if you opt for the sofa-bed conversion in the saloon. The Fairline Phantom 40 perfectly captures that blend of privacy and sociability that is the secret of successful living and entertaining on board.

The Fairline Phantom 48 motor yacht has a master stateroom with its en-suite bathroom placed amidships, allowing the enormous, panoramic hull windows to flood the space with light. The forward stateroom too, provides luxurious accommodation and the starboard cabin has twin Pullman berths that fold away to provide flexibility and floor space. The Fairline Phantom 48 has a cool, contemporary interior, with a sophisticated American White Oak finish.

The Fairline Phantom 50 motor yacht offers accommodation that is most generous in her class, with full height headroom in all cabins and plenty of stowage for the demands of extended cruising. There is an immense master stateroom with private bathroom, two further double cabins offering similar levels of luxury to family and friends.

The Fairline Squadron 55 motor yacht offers spaciousness and a light, airy ambience throughout. The magnificent full beam master stateroom has panoramic hull windows, state of the art ‘electro-opaque’ bathroom walls and an immense, cabin-width wardrobe. The same fine attention is given to the saloon, galley and guest accommodation.

The Fairline Squadron 58 motor yacht has quite exceptional ‘liveability’ and customised options are at the heart of this remarkable craft. Aft cabin and multiple mid-cabin options enable you to shape her to suit your own personal boating lifestyle and entertainment preferences.

The Fairline Squadron 65 offers a real ‘large yacht’ feeling, with a huge flybridge that is a masterpiece of practical design, fabulous entertainment facilities and two large and luxurious sunbathing areas. The Fairline Squadron 65 distinctively offers a long central window running the full length of the sunpad on the foredeck which floods the forward cabin with light and adds a unique look to the exterior. The spacious single level saloon, with its sumptuous furnishings and elegant cabinetry, merely hints at the stunning quality and standard of finish to be discovered throughout this extraordinary yacht.

The Fairline Squadron 68 motor yacht shouts sheer space for moving around and socializing in, with a magnificent saloon with its separate dining area; an elegant master stateroom with large vertical windows; a spacious 4-cabin layout and sumptuous guest accommodation; a massive flybridge deck; an impressive cockpit area and the provision of discreet transom access for the crew cabin.

Central to the concept of the new Squadron 70 was Fairlines desire to improve upon the tremendous success of the Squadron 68 - a Motorboat of the Year class winner – by evolving her design to create even greater flexibility and to further enhance the ‘large yacht’ feel that has become such a hallmark of the Squadron range.

The introduction of an extended hydraulic hi-lo bathing platform, from which the increase in model designation derives its name, is one of the more evident external developments. This not only allows easy access, handling and storage for the Jet RIB tender, but also provides a spacious and well-equipped facility for swimming, diving and watersports.

The flybridge too has been subject to intense evaluation by our design team and the result is a choice of two layouts; an extended sunbathing area aft with beautifully contoured day beds for a more relaxing onboard experience, or alternatively, a PWC platform and crane for those seeking a more adventurous lifestyle.

Add to this a choice of aft layouts below decks, allowing the owner to dedicate this area to guests or to a crew cabin and utility facilities, and you get a great amount of flexibility in this luxury motor yacht.

Everything Fairline have learnt in 40 years of building fine motor yachts is to be found in the breathtakingly elegant, award-winning Squadron 78. From the well-proven hull to the smallest detail of cabinetry, they’ve drawn on lessons learned from the creation of over 10,000 boats, in order to create a peerless Grand Luxe motor yacht. From design concept through to full-size mock-up, nothing has been left to chance, so that every inch of this boat fits a precise design purpose. The Squadron 78 embodies everything that, as an owner, you would expect in a luxury performance motor yacht … as well as a great many things you probably wouldn’t!

Large, luminous public spaces; grand private staterooms that combine light, space and air to stunning effect; and everywhere, the dazzling interplay between the finest materials (hand-selected granite work surfaces, hand-matched burrs and exotic woods) and state-of-the-art design accents and features.

In summary, Fairlines Squadron flagship took three years to develop and countless thousands of man-hours to reach such a pinnacle of excellence … and it shows. Everywhere you look.

The teak-laid cockpit and bathing platform can provide passengers with their own private beach. The large, airy saloon with its six-seat dining table, cocktail cabinet and soft, comfy seating to port and starboard, is on the same level as the spacious and well-equipped galley with its large fridge and freezer and useful in-floor stowage hold.
